Education:
BA in Public Accounting from Universidad Libre in Cali, Colombia, and MA in Financial Management and Leadership from the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (UNIR) in Spain. I gained several years of professional experience in finance, accounting, and administrative management in Colombia. My interdisciplinary background combines expertise in financial analysis with the study of global governance, development, and historical and contemporary social challenges.
Bio:
I was born in the Chocó department on the Colombia Pacific Coast. My research focuses on the intersection of organized crime, illicit economies, governance, and forced displacement, with a particular emphasis on Colombia’s Pacific region. I am interested in understanding how criminal organizations shape local economies, institutions, and community resilience and how these dynamics influence public policy, peacebuilding, and sustainable development. To future I am also interested in developing quantitative approaches to study the transatlantic African slave trade, examining its demographic, economic, and historical impacts, as well as its enduring legacy in contemporary societies across the Americas.
