Bio:
Amireh Boroujeni-Ellington (she/her) was born and raised in San Diego, just 20 minutes to the Mexican border. Her Iranian-Panamanian heritage and upbringing in the border city are a pillar to her undergraduate academic interests in intersectionality, migration, and human rights. She’s earned a BA in English & Comparative Literature and Comparative International Studies from San Diego State University, with a regional focus on Europe and the MENA region and a language concentration in French. Her undergraduate studies are complimented by an exchange semester at Sciences Po, Paris.
Following graduation, Amireh has since worked in townships in Cape Town, South Africa, supporting under resourced communities and aiding students in completing their matric and pursuing higher education. Following this, Amireh completed a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Calahorra, Spain. Her current research interests include human rights violations, immigrant trafficking, collectivist versus individualist societies, the ongoing impacts of colonialism, and gender based violence. She is deeply committed to promoting human security and advancing conflict resolution.
