The poet-farmer Wendell Berry has said, "Eating is an agricultural act." Eating is also an ethical act. The choices that we make as individuals and as a society about food have ripples that affect every aspect of our lives, from the environment to the climate, from social justice to public health. In this talk, Anna Lappé, the author of Diet for a Hot Planet: The Climate Crisis at the End of Your Fork What You Can Do About It and Grub: Ideas for an Urban Organic Kitchen, will discuss how the food system impacts so many different aspects of our lives and how recent and diverse social movements motivated by a profoundethic of food are transforming how we feed ourselves. Ultimately, these movements show the transformative power of talking about the ethics of food.
