The Global and International Studies Program at UC Santa Barbara now offers a PhD in Global Studies. The interdisciplinary Doctorate in Global Studies is a cutting-edge program designed to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
The new PhD Program at UCSB is the first of its kind at a Tier-1 Research University in the United States. It joins our highly successful MA in Global Studies which has been operating for the past decade. The Doctoral curriculum includes three areas of specialization: 1) global political economy, sustainable development, environment 2) global culture, ideology, and religion and 3) global governance, human rights, and civil society (see attached flyer below).
