Giving Online to UCSB Global Studies Department

The Global Studies Department, established in 1999, is one of the first interdisciplinary undergraduate majors in international studies in the country to focus on globalization. The major is popular among undergraduates and attracts approximately 900 students from all walks of life.

A Master of Arts program, launched in fall 2006, offers a two-year degree intended to help students develop an understanding of the economic, political, social, and cultural forces that are shaping global organizations. Internationally-recognized faculty teach and mentor graduate students in the growing program, which offers teaching experience and a field internship.  An interdisciplinary Ph.D. emphasis in Global Studies is also available.  In addition, the department's cutting-edge PhD Program is the first of its kind at a Tier-1 Research University in the United States, and the first within the University of California system. It is a stand-alone degree (approximately 5-6 years) and is separate from our highly successful terminal MA in Global Studies. The PhD program in Global Studies provides a unique interdisciplinary degree for students who desire to study global issues such as conflict, immigration, human rights, environment, sustainable development and the challenges these issues present for lasting peace, equality and prosperity.

Support from Alumni and Friends support these endeavors and enrich our programming and student and faculty opportunities to engage in global matters at the highest level in the area. We invite you to be a part of the Program's success in educating the next generation of leaders by making a gift today.
