eSCHOLARSHIP REPOSITORY
First eScholarship Repository Journal
The first eScholarship Repository journal to debut was San Francisco Estuary and Watershed Science. Repository journals are free and available to any Internet user. SFEWS is published by the John Muir Institute of the Environment at UC Davis for the the San Francisco Bay-Delta Science Consortium. It features peer-reviewed research on the science and ecology of the San Francisco Bay, Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, and upstream watersheds. A press release on the repository and its journals infrastructure will be issued within the next month.

Repository Journals and Peer-Reviewed Series, including how you can start
your own, is available at:

Repository Continues to Grow; Usage Skyrockets
There are now 123 units from the 9 campuses participating in the eScholarship Repository. Total downloads to date are over 230,000. In the last week alone we had over 8000 downloads. It's a remarkable increase; only 4 weeks ago we were getting 6000 downloads per week.
Did You Know: Repository readers come from over 78 countries. Over half of all users come to the Repository through Google.
Because weekly downloads have been soaring, we've added a feature to the front repository page tracking download numbers for the last 7 days. You'll also notice our counter for number of papers in the repository, currently 2299.
New Repository Participation Agreement for Your Director to Sign
Upon the counsel of our legal advisers, we have updated the agreement signed by all units participating in the eScholarship Repository. It clarifies responsibilities and provides protections consistent with language used in other UC legal documents.
The new eScholarship Repository Digital Assets Submission Agreement isavailable now: http://repositories.cdlib.org/escholarship/mou.pdf .
Within the next few weeks you will be getting a letter from us along with a copy of your original agreement and two copies of the new agreement. Please complete the new agreement, have your director sign both originals, and mail them to the CDL, as spelled out in the letter. We will countersign them and mail one back for your records. If you're a center or other unit nested under a larger unit and did not sign an agreement originally, in most cases you will not need a new agreement.
Did You Know: If you joined the repository earlier than this summer, you'll need a new agreement to keep your participation current.
If you have any questions at all, just drop a note to me or to the source of all repository guidance: help@repositories.cdlib.org .
Spread the Word
Let your faculty--well, any faculty, or anyone--know about the eScholarship Repository and its value as a place for the most current research from UC and beyond. Encourage faculty to post their working papers, conference proceedings, and technical reports. Let them know how much more exposure their work will get if it's in the repository.
Did You Know: 97 percent of eScholarship Repository readers are from outside UC.
If faculty already have papers in the repository, ask them what they're working on now. Have you sponsored a conference recently? The repository is a great way to share papers before and after a conference or seminar.
We have a spiffy, brand-new flier on the repository (PDF
available at repository About page:
http://repositories.cdlib.org/escholarship/Repository_Flier.pdf).
Color printers are best, but it looks great in black and
white too. Put them around the office, stuff mailboxes,
bring a few to your next meeting--spread the word.
Questions and feedback appreciated as always.
Best wishes,
Suzanne
