WOMEN, CULTURE & DEVELOPMENT MINOR - ABOUT

Are
you interested in Third World issues?
Are you concerned about how development affects, and is affected
by, women in the Third World?
Do you wonder how culture affects people's agency and resistance
in the Third World?
Then consider the new minor in Women, Culture and Development - an interdisciplinary
minor that draws on courses in the Humanities and the Social Sciences, and whose
core faculty are based in six departments: Anthropology, Asian American Studies,
Black Studies, Environmental Studies, History, Political Science and Sociology.
The WCD minor has wide geographic coverage of countries in Africa, Asia, Latin
America and the Middle East, focuses analysis on how gender affects, and is affected
by development, and, forces discussion of the ways in which the lived experiences
(cultures) of peoples in the Third World affect the origins and outcomes of development.
