EUROPEAN AREA STUDIES MAJOR - ABOUT
The proposal for a European Area
Studies Major (EAS) has been in the planning and review stages since 1994.
A proposal for a major in European studies was approved at the first official
meeting of the Global and International Studies (G&IS) Executive
Committee in November, 1995, and the proposal was submitted for approval
to the Executive Committee of the College of Letters and Science. It is
currently being revised for resubmission.
The program focuses on European languages and cultures in historical, as
well as recent developments in the creation of a European Union.
