A community- based organization dedicated to alleviating
the poverty and suffering among the world’s poorest
people, Islamic Relief is an international relief and development
charity founded in the UK in 1984 by Dr. Hany El Banna. Core
values integral to the Islamic faith (accountability, humanitarianism,
inclusiveness, integrity, neutrality, impartiality and
co-operation) inform IR’s international efforts to
provide local communities with water and sanitation projects,
orphan support, education, and microcredit- without regard
to the race, religion or gender. IR supports the
millennium Development Goals and many of its programs around
the world are contributing towards this humanitarian project. Ahmed
El-Bendary is the CEO of Islamic Relief USA. Islamic Relief
strives to alleviate suffering, hunger, illiteracy, and
diseases worldwide regardless of color, race, religion,
or creed, and to provide aid in a compassionate and dignified
manner. Islamic Relief aims to provide rapid relief in
the event of human and natural disasters and to establish
sustainable local development projects allowing communities
