Founded by the Muslim League in 1978, the International Islamic Relief Organization of Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) “...aims to alleviate the suffering of distressed and needy people worldwide.” It is based in the Saudi Arabian city of Mekkah. According to its website, in 2006 IIROSA projects totaled $4.7 million on Emergency Relief, $2.2 million on Health Care, $1.5 million on Education, $4.7 million on Development, $6 million on the building on new Mosques, $46 million on Quran Recitation and finally $2.2 billion on Social Welfare programs mainly focusing on orphans in more than 44 countries.
