Social Science Research Council: Religion in the
Public Sphere
http://programs.ssrc.org/religion/
The Social Science Research Council was founded in 1923 with the mission of promoting the understanding of critical social issues, both nationally and internationally. Recently there has been a renewal of attention to religion’s public significance. Religion has become a more important dimension of national and international politics, an increasingly contentious cultural force, and the subject of sustained debate within multiple public spheres. Most significantly, with support from the Luce Foundation, the SSRC aims to strengthen both scholarly and public attention to religion’s place in international affairs.
