The meeting was held at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza Hotel, Cairo Egypt. It was sponsored by the London School of Economics and Al Ahram Center for Strategic Studies, and co-sponsored by Iraqi al Amal Association and the University of California, Santa Barbara. It was chaired by Mary Kaldor (Center for Global Governance, LSE), Mohamed Said (Al Ahram Center for Strategic Studies, Cairo), Hanaa Edward (Iraqi Al-Amal Association, Baghdad) and Mark Juergensmeyer, (Global & International Studies, UC-Santa Barbara), and coordinated by Yahia Said, LSE, who also provided translation from English to Arabic and Arabic to English. The notes were taken by Will Thomas (UC-Santa Barbara and University of Capetown) and edited by Mark Juergensmeyer and Mary Kaldor.
