March, 2006

Announcing new book: Eric Stener Carlson, former Global Studies 1 TA, is now working for the International Labour Organization (now based in Bangkok) as the Regional Specialist for HIV/AIDS, covering South-Asia, South-East Asia and the Pacific.

His latest book, THE PEAR TREE: IS TORTURE EVER JUSTIFIED? has recently been published and is well received. It grapples with the issue of torture, framed within his experiences as a human rights advocate around the world, especially working in the mass graves in Argentina and investigating war crimes in the former Yugoslavia.
