ORFALEA CENTER FOR GLOBAL & INTERNATIONAL STUDIES PRESENTS:

The Crisis in Darfur:
A Challenge of Conscience

A Retreat on Saturday, April 21, 9:00 am - 1:15 pm

UCSB’s MA Program in Global & International Studies, in association with the Orfalea Center for Global & International Studies and the Santa Barbara Committee of Human Rights Watch, is proud to sponsor a half-day retreat on the crisis in Darfur on April 21, 2007. The retreat will involve students and faculty from the MA Program, members of Human Rights Watch, staff from Direct Relief International, and experts on the regional challenges. The retreat is designed to motivate as well as educate, providing a call to action for local activists. It will open with a keynote speaker and plenary panel, break out into working groups on three key issues (the geopolitical, humanitarian, and environmental challenges), then reconvene to share conclusions and point the way to further actions.
