The conference will debate and discuss how terrorism and acts of terrorism are understood and explained.  There will be interdisciplinary contributions investigating how states and societies construct understandings and categories of terrorism and extremism.  By investigating how understandings of terrorism are constructed it is hoped we can contribute to the development of more effective strategies for coutering the extremist ideas that lead to the acts labelled as terrorism.
