Haley
Wrinkle
Haley Wrinkle hopes to study poverty alleviation and economic development. Her
interests in this field are broad, and she would be happy to study anything
from hydrology to agricultural development to microfinance loans to job
creation. At this point she is strongly considering focusing on reform
in the world garment industry.
Haley graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Art Studio, and is interested in using her design background in development
projects. After graduating, she taught English in Cambodia for a
year. Haley's travels throughout Southeast Asia and in parts of Africa
have seriously impacted her world view and given her a burden for the poor. She
is concerned with the objectification of the poor in the NGO world and
wants to find ways to help which give individuals respect and dignity. Her
desire to study development is especially driven by her Christian faith.
Haley is interning in Washington D.C. with the International Labor Rights Forum. The ILRF is an advocacy organization which works to achieve just and humane treatment for workers across the globe. Haley is working on research and campaigns related to sweatshop issues for the ILRF.
