Studies abroad include a year of high-school in Zaragoza, Spain as well as Latin American history classes at the UABC of Mexico. Some of her interests include indigenous and human environmental rights, immigration and Diaspora studies, Latin American History, and the formation and impact of grassroots social movements.
In May 2007, Hailey traveled to Israel for the first time and was very inspired to learn more about Israel and the middle-east. In December she returned on an organized trip during which she met with Israeli NGOs and examined the major issues facing the region today. Over the summer, Hailey interned at Jewish World Watch, a small non-profit in the Los Angeles area with a mission to combat genocide and crimes against humanity by mobilizing and educating the local community, providing refugee relief, and engaging in advocacy work. Hailey will spend the fall in Be'er Sheva, Israel, where she will take classes at Ben Gurion University and conduct research for her thesis. She enjoys music, dancing, travel, the beach, and spending time with her 4-year old son.
