Haiyan WangHaiyan Wang

Haiyan Wang is an international student from China. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature in 2003 from Fudan University, Shanghai, which is also the city where she had spent the first twenty-two years of her life.

Haiyan served as an intern reporter at a Shanghai television station during her senior year at Fudan, then chose the History department at Stanford University for her advance degree studies.

In 2005, Haiyan completed her M.A. degree at Stanford and was deeply attracted by Global & International Studies at UC Santa Barbara, where she is focusing her career goals on the areas of  sustainable development, environmental issues, and human rights.

Haiyan initially interned with the Human Rights Watch Communications department in New York City, working on rebuilding their Chinese website, as well as Chinese translations. After completing this work, she moved on to work with the Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia. When she returns at the end of 2007, she will work on the compatibility between global human rights standards and regional cultures.
