Inaugural Class, 2006 - 2008


Persis MilaniPersis Milani

Persis earned her B.A. in Global and International Studies at UC Santa Barbara focusing on Europe and Eurasia.

Within the M.A. program, she focuses on Human Rights issues and the Middle East, particularly the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Her research interests include: Postcolonial Criticism and Theory, Memory, Social and Legal Exclusion, Violence, Continental Philosophy, Political Economy, Transnational Social Movements, Middle Eastern Studies, International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law.

She is currently in Palestine as an intern with an affiliate of the Geneva-based International Commission of Jurists, an NGO that provides legal expertise at both the international and national levels to ensure that developments in international law adheres to human rights principles and that international standards are implemented at the national level. Upon completion of her internship, she will take courses on comparative legal cultures at the Onati International Institute for the Sociology of Law.
