Eduardo Mendoza
Eduardo earned his B.A. degree at the University of California, Santa Barbara with a double major in Political Science and Latin American and Iberian Studies.
Having experienced poverty firsthand during his early childhood in a rural Mexican village, he decided that the MAGIS program would help him better understand the mechanisms that create poverty throughout the world.
As a MAGIS student, Eduardo hopes to learn more about the improvement of democratic institutions in developing countries and how to better implement sustainable economic development programs. He would also like to innovate new ways to improve the relationship between the public and private sector and civil society.
This interest has led him to take up an internship in the Colombian headquarters of RedEAmérica, a network of over 50 development Foundations from throughout Latin America, whose main goal is to eradicate poverty and social inequities. While in Colombia at Corporacion Consorcio para el Desarrollo Comunitario, (a network of 10 development NGOs working out of Colombia whose goal is to achieve development at a grassroots level), Eduardo hopes to experience the relationship between the three sectors of society first hand. Once back from his internship, he hopes to complete his MA thesis on this topic.
