Alumni Profiles
Inaugural Class, 2006 - 2008

Brenna CooleyBrenna Cooley

Brenna earned her B.A. from the University of California Santa Barbara in Global and International Studies. As part of her degree, she spent a year abroad studying in Spain and traveled extensively during this time. It was because of this program and her experiences abroad that she became involved with global social and political issues and decided to join the inaugural class of the MA program.

Brenna interned with OneVoice in Tel Aviv, Israel; a conflict resolution organization promoting “consensus for conflict resolution” by “mobilizing against violent extremism”. One of their projects focused on amassing an unprecendented number of signatories in both Israel and the West Bank for a mandate calling for an end to the conflict which she helped to coordinate and implement.

She hopes to use this experience to examine the effectiveness of peace organizations and local people’s receptiveness to them.
