Three oil companies want to drill over 750 wells in Santa Barbara County using extreme forms of extraction that may threaten the health of communities and contaminate the local aquifer. A county-wide campaign is working to urge both permitting agencies and elected officials to deny permits to all three projects.

Community choice energy, or community choice aggregation (CCA), shifts decision-making power over energy procurement from investor-owned utilities to locally-controlled public agencies. CCA uses local control to make good on commitments to local generation, local jobs, and higher renewable content in our energy.

In August 2018, the Trump Administration proposed opening more than 1 million acres of California land across 9 counties to oil drilling and fracking, including public land in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has launched a year-long regional study to determine the environmental and health effects of this proposition.
