ADDITIONAL COURSES FOR THE GLOBAL MAJOR
WINTER 2010

THREE PARTS:
1)  Notes on Global courses - Special Topics details, etc.
2)  Area II (global topics) in other departments -  count for the major/not on the req. sheet
3)  Area III (region topics) in other departments - count for the major/ not on req. sheet

1) NOTES ON GLOBAL CORE COURSES:
Winter 2010: Global 110 and Global 130
Spring 2010: Global 110 and Global 120

If you will be here next year, you could wait and take the core classes as a senior…..

They will each be offered twice next year as well.   This will take some pressure off the winter 2010 classes. Core classes are taught 2 times each year.

2)  GLOBAL TOPICS (electives) – U. DIV. Area II
a)   ** Global 194 - Orfalea Business Seminar (60145) MONDAYS (U.Div. Area II topic)
Emphasis is on doing business in a global environment, and the relation of current international events to business. Participants must be committed to the seminar and keep up with readings, including reading LA Times and/or NY Times daily. Papers may be required. The seminar will be led by Paul Orfalea, who was the founder-owner of Kinko's, an international copy company that had its beginnings in a small shop in Isla Vista.
We’ve put 15 seats out on GOLD for Seniors in the global major.

PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS CLASS AND DROP IT LATER!!!
It’s really unfair to other students. It’s a very small seminar and should not be used as a “filler” in your schedule!

We no longer use a wait list to fill this class.  We will open the remaining seats (5-8) during Pass 3 for seniors in the global studies major.
b)  ** Global 197 - Special Topics (U.Div. Area II topics)
We have 1 of these in winter quarter.  FRIDAYS from 9-12.
( The second one is just a place-holder…no instructor yet)
