October 2, 2003:
Mark,
How goes it in sunny California? I hope all
is well with you and Sooch, and that your MA in GS is progressing
as you would like it. It's been so long since I've written
you--- I was speaking with you last about not being sure if
I wanted law school or not. I was hesitating and finally decided
not to atttend. Its not for me really, all those hours inside
an office. So I went the academia route and am getting a Masters
in International Development at American University. I'm really
enjoying the program- the readings and professors are great
and DC is not too bad either.
I am heading toward a career in international development
then, hoping it will allow me to live and work back and forth
between Africa and the US. I wanted to thank you again for
writing my letter of recommendation which I know was a factor
when I was being considered for this program. So, yeah, thanks.
