"UCSB's Global Studies program inspired
my interest in understanding the legal system and it's importance
in international issues. The program provided me with a great
background for learning the law. I am able to analyze the
law not only from a domestic standpoint but also from an international
standpoint given everything I have learned about globalization.
Because of this my interest in the law is greatly expanded
as our the possibilities when choosing my career path."
April 3, 2003:
I am a Global Studies and Philosophy-Ethics
and Public Policy graduate. I am preparing to study International
Law next year. Currently I am organizing the New America Social
Forum, a four day progressive festival in Santa Barbara.
The forum is based on the World Social Forum
recently held in Porto Alegre, Brazil and similar fora occurring
throughout the world. The aim is to unite various progressive
groups and individuals to educate, motivate, and have fun.
It will feature speakers including Daniel Sheehan, Norman
Solomon, and many more. It is being held in conjunction with
the Globalization Topics Lecture at UCSB. After the forum
I will be spending the next three months in Brazil, Argentina,
and Bolivia making a documentary on the "new socialism"
emerging.
