As for my current situation, I have just come
off a summer in San Diego following a year in Chile. My Chilean
adventure would not have occured had it not been for the Global
Studies department and the empahsis it placed on augmenting
classroom education with real-life experiences gained through
international study experiences. I completed my college education
at the University of Chile and decided to stay in Santiago
for a while and teach english. After my term as teacher had
ended, I had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout
South America, continually learning more about cultural differences,
simularities and inequalities all while viewing amazing sites
and spectacles. I ran out of money just in time to make it
home to San Diego for summer, but now find myself in Vail,
Colorado waiting for winter, planning my next trip. After
this season, I plan on moving to Spain to teach english and
gain a European persective of the world. Gaining a global
perspective does not always have to be done first hand, but
it sure is more fun.
