Aloha to my favorite professors/mentors: Juergensmeyer,
Appelbaum and of course Orfaela (in no particular order),
and ex-global colleagues,
After graduating in 2002 I began working at
a university in Prague, Czech Republic. There I helped the
Vice Dean revise grant proposals for the European Union (they
enter 2004) and taught Business English classes to professors
and some students. I was chosen to represent the university
at a forum for Ethical European Businesses and was quick to
pick a friendly fight with the representatives of Shell. I
had a field day when the topic of Nike came up and was grateful
for my Global Studies knowledge of sweatshops and individual
examples to throw at them. When my traineeship was over I
backpacked around Europe: Hungary, Austria, Greece & their
islands, Italy, France, Spain, Amsterdam, England and Ireland
for 3 months.
I returned to California for a mere month and
then moved to Honolulu, Hawaii where I now happily reside.
At this point I'm looking into getting my MBA/MA in Global
Leadership and a position with an international advertising
and PR firm. I might be in contact very soon for some letters
of recommendations :)
I hope your days are bright in Santa Barbara!
Ahoj (pronounced Ahoy ? Czech for hello and
goodbye)
